To achieve this commitment, efficient solutions have been applied in the daily exercise of our activities and the ongoing quest for innovative alternatives, such as:
- Bioenergy or biomass energy:Our hotel has the first biomass boiler in La Palma and one of the first in the Canary Islands, which reduces dependence on fossil fuels such as oil.
- Renewable energy and energy efficiency technologies:Our hotel has a heat recovery pump for the production of hot water and a recovery cooler (which cools water for the use of air conditioning). These recovery systems use the surplus of consumed energy, as well as the residual heat used to produce hot or cold water according to needs, so that the maximum power consumption is optimised. What's more, these machines have the highest standards in energy efficiency.
- Fully automated equipment room:This implies that the entire machinery system, hot water production, air conditioning, water pumping, boiler, etc. is computer controlled, with almost constant measurements and redesign of parameters, so all the machines work for the required time and as efficiently as possible, with the consequent reduction in electricity consumption and the emission of gases into the atmosphere. In addition to limiting the time of use of machines to the minimum, their lifespan is extended, so we also reduce the production of scrap metal, waste oils, etc.
- Swimming pool and jacuzzi: The water is cleaned by means of a salt electrolysis, avoiding chemical chlorine as we obtain the chlorine from the salt of the water itself.
- Use of bed linen, towels and table linen with the MADE IN GREEN by OEKO-TEX® label: Ecological label of the bed and table linen used at the hotel, granted to the manufacturer and internationally recognised as an ecological standard within the European Union.
- Use of toiletries: We work with companies committed to cruelty-free testing and production of biodegradable products for our guest toiletries.
- Diversified waste collection: We separate our waste into seven different categories (glass, paper, dishes, glassware, plastic, general and organic) for recycling and the better protection of the environment.
- Lighting: An original outdoor lighting system was used that combines light fixtures with wicker and cages converted into lamps, which minimises light pollution on an island with one of the most important astronomical observatories in the world.
- Commitment to locally sourced products: We're committed to locally sourced products to avoid pollution caused by their transport.
- Ecological drain system:We have a fat separator equipped with an enzymatic digester.
